Life On The Ponderosa

Yoo Hoo...It's me...your neighbor Cindy

Remember me?
I'm the gal who lives in a house on wheels
and gardens constantly.
I'm beginning to feel like dirt is always going to be under my nails
and dragging water hoses....will never end!
Then I come in and sit down...and I see them....
The jars filled with garden goodies!
Our food ...grown by us, nurtured by us
and picked and canned by us.
And I breathe a sigh of relief...we have food.

I want to thank Sandy and Debbie for checking on me.
It meant a lot!!

I have popped into some of your homes....and I have tried to keep up
with what is going on...but I seem to be struggling in this area.
Those that have followed me for the last 2 years...know I took this community seriously.
I have cried, prayed, laughed...and worried a lot about my blogging friends.
To the point I was in a world not here...but out in the "Blogville World".

There has been a sweet peace not attached to the computer.
I have actually concentrated on Me....lol
Now don't laugh but I have never been the gal to take care of herself.
No beauty appointments for me...I cut my own hair.
My nails never have nail polish on them...and the newest styles...
nope not me!
My weight had crept...ran...climbed until I thought I would bust open!!

I had to think of me...and use the time I sat at the computer for me...to lose weight.
I started a new way of living and eating 5 weeks ago.
15 pounds gone...5 inches off the waist and 1inch off  the big ole thighs!!

Praise God!
I know it will be a long struggle...but I am now seeing
results and I am determined to live better for me, my husband, my kids , my
grandchildren and yes for you my friends.

No pictures today.
I have been canning and canning.
We have new animals on the farm.
Spring and Summer gardens are gone.
Late Summer plants have been planted...early fall seedlings will be
started soon.

We have some decisions to be made soon on his work.
Prayers would be appreciated that we do the right thing.
I am trying to live quietly and calmly as things seems to be getting worse
with the economy and the cost of living.

I pray for y'all all the time.
That you have been preparing for the future.
I am here...just an email away if you need to ask any questions.

I will get pictures up soon...and some more tips on frugal living.

Thanks for reading this...I do miss y'all!

By for now...canning apron on...carrots here we go!!

  1. It's bean canning time for us...we don't grow a huge variety of veggies at this point...I am still learning to be more provident, but I would be overwhelmed by the amount that you seem to do so effortlessly. You are a true county woman like a couple of my neighbors who take their huge gardens and endless canning in stride. I am getting better at it, tho'...=D

  2. Hi pretty lady,

So good to hear from you. Congratulations on your journey of self improvement! I've been on one, too, and got myself off of pain meds and started a low to no sugar diet and have lost over 30 pounds since June 3rd. I've been keeping you in my thoughts, and I'll definitely put in some prayer time for you.

    Hugs,
    Meri

I'll say a prayer for your family in regards to the decisions needing to be made, and may God bless you as you look to Him!

  11. Cindy! So good to see your post! Sure have missed you! I'm not a good blogger at all, but I love checking other people's blogs :)
I thought July went fast, but then when I turned around it was the end of August& now September! Seems we've had several storms to worry about this year and THREE more months of Hurricane Season to go!!! A few days ago, just from the rain over on this coast as TS/Hurricane Isaac went up the other coast and on into the Gulf, we had so much rain that a huge part of one of our giant oaks fell and knocked down our telephone pole. So we were without telephone, except for my little cell, and without dsl/internet. Oh, that was hard -- but must admit I got more work done than usual! Now it's temporarily fixed until the tree people come to remove all the tree stuff so the AT&T people can put the pole back up. Wish they'd put the cable underground like the electric company did a few years ago. That's been such a blessing for us!
You are really a wonderful role model for us, Cindy! I really admire your perseverance and always love hearing what you're doing with the gardens. Great job with weight loss and lifestyle! xoxo Jane

  13. Good for you about the weight loss. I avoid sugar and refined flour which are empty calories and that works for me. I prayed as you ask that you are guided to make the right decision about his work, and that all things are good for you.
